"If Congress is serious about creating jobs, fostering innovation and reinvigorating strapped cities and nearly-bankrupt state governments, then Congress must look at more enticing, user-friendly investor visa categories. As my colleague Rami Fakhoury proposes, why not declare the entire City of Detroit (full disclosure: my home town) and other municipalities with threadbare budgets and abundant vacant land as eligible for a $250,000 green card investor visa if two jobs are created? Why not allow foreign investors to team up with angel investors under the The Start-Up Visa Act proposed by Senators Kerry and Lugar? Why not allow foreign investors, properly screened, to invest in state bonds and obtain immigration benefits, much like the financial syndications that Canada allows? Why not enact The E-2 Nonimmigrant Investor Adjustment Act and allow E-2 visaholders to settle permanently in the United States?"
It's now officially summer and still no answer. Congressman McCotters office has been helping with the communication channels but the "official" word is the U.S. Government lacks the "manpower" to deal with these types of issues. You would think that with a $14 Trillion deficit, some of that would be spent on wages for people to solve mistakes like this.
As it stands, I will have an answer no later than early September. I may have a green card before that! Speaking of green cards. My application is filed in California for some reason, where it is taking 8 years to get one for a married son of a US citizen. If I was Mexican, it's taking 18 years! If it was filed in Nebraska, it's taking 5 months!!! More nonsense! Now If I was from Somalia, I could enter the lottery where there are double the abount available and have one in a year! I would share the countries that get green card preference but we are all mad enough. Needless to say, every two bit third world country has access to the lottery, but 1st world countries do not.
After indepth research, a report was made to congress in 1996 by a math group showing that the formulas used by Immigration in the 1990 reform are all wrong creating massive back logs and errors. The errors like in my case are increasing forcing great people out of work, and out of this country. Where is the breaking point? If this continues I better brush up on my francais?
